Waves in Maui?

I’m going to Maui in mid-May. How are the waves this time of year? We’re looking to primarily do some boogie-boarding and a little bit of surfing. I’d say we’re intermediate boogie-boarders and beginner surfers. We’re not looking for enormous waves, nor are we looking for baby waves– something in between. If you could name some worthwhile beaches near Kaanapali, that’d be great. Thanks in advance! -A Haole
